This is our third cruise and walk holiday with Ramblers. We love both cruising and rambling. While some think the Canaries only cater to sunbathers lounging by hotel pools, our experience proves otherwise.

Competa is an attractive Spanish hill town that celebrates Christmas in a traditional and low key way, whilst the New Year celebrations are much more lively and a chance for the locals, and visitors alike, to enjoy some real party fun.

In the hill country beyond the coastal resorts close to Malaga lies the small town of Competa, some 700 metres above sea level. This was the base for 51 ramblers to explore the valleys, hills and ‘white villages’ of the Sierra Almijara.
