There are few countries that match the striking visualisation of Chile; rocky Andean peaks, snow capped volcanoes, broad river valleys and deep canyons, icy fjords, pale blue glaciers with their turquoise terminal lakes, sandy beaches and precipitous headlands. Chile owes such diversity to its extremes of latitude and altitude; the country stretches southwards for 37º from the 18th to the 52nd parallels, squeezed between the Andean ridge and the Pacific Ocean. It is possible to see much in a relatively short time. Walk in this hiker’s paradise and be captivated by Andean mountain backdrops and towering volcanoes, glistening lakes, autumnal colours, plants and wildlife native only to South America.
Our specially selected holidays encompass various trails for walking in Chile. Walk in Patagonia, the country’s best hiking destination and be surrounded by nature. Or experience a brief taste our Falkland Islands and the capital Santiago.
Chile has recently become much more sophisticated regarding it’s local cuisine serving up some of the most sophisticated dishes in South America. To accompany this comes more matured wine blends with rich reds, crisp whites and delicate rose’s, something to suit every occasion. However, be prepared to experience contrast with the traditional Chilean concept of ‘la beuna mesa’, which is all about the components of a good meal – it’s not about high end, it’s about excellent company and free flowing conversations to match the flow of wine.
Walking in the awe-inspiring Patagonia, an area of uninterrupted lakes, dormant volcanoes and vast tracts of wilderness.
