WALKING uphill with very little visibility – our compass-bearing leader defying the low clouds intent on getting us lost – we suddenly emerged at a remote rail crossing where a small gaggle of men with cameras were staring patiently into the “fog”. �

We have returned from our Malta and Gozo holiday. What a great time of the year to visit these islands. Not too hot, usually less than 20 degrees. They are so green and lush.

The hotel in Francavilla where we stayed was a little old fashioned but otherwise ideal with very good food and attentive staff. It also had its own swimming pool – very refreshing although it was a little chilly! The bar was warmer however!
