Wainwright Walkers Welcome

Is Yorkshire the friendliest place for walkers? A undisputed 25 of its towns and villages have signed up to the ‘Walkers are Welcome’ scheme which aims to encourage walkers to be actively welcomed and assisted when visiting. Heading east after leaving the Lake District, about a 100 miles of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route crosses North Yorkshire through wild and beautiful rolling hill scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors to end at picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Yorkshire Coast.

For many arranging the necessary accommodation and transport along the route can be almost as exhausting as walking the route itself. Where as walking as a part of a group can take away the administrative strain and decision making allowing you to enjoy the walk and the support of your trail companions in some of the longer stages. Walking in a small guided group is a perfect way to discover the walker friendliest area of England.
