The Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust plays a significant part in enabling greater access to the outdoors to a wide range of individuals and organisations every year. A selection of the work funded so far in 2025 is listed below, with links to how to apply for a grant at the foot of the page.
The Trust have continued to support and work with key partners including Mind Over Mountains, Adaptive GrandSlam and The Ramblers to make a difference to people's lives and improve access to the countryside for all.
In May 2025 Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust donated alongside the UK Government, Natural England, and local councils to create and install new interpretation panels across the beloved Norfolk Coast Path National Trail.
In July 2024 Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust generously awarded DofE Wales a grant of £4,000.
DofE Wales have sent us their 2025 impact report detailing how this grant has helped support the provision of bursaries in respect of volunteer leader training courses such as; Lowland Leader Training, Hill and Moorland Leader Training, and more.
Ramble Worldwide MD Wayne Perks attended the event, which was roundly enjoyed by all. An event organised to celebrate the work in preserving and creating thriving National Parks for everyone which is no doubt invaluable and vital in our countries' sustainability.
Congratulations to the winners!

Every year, the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust donates to emergency services in recognition of the incredible volunteers who stand ready to help—whatever the circumstances. While we hope we never need to call on them, we are proud to support the people and organisations who are always prepared to step in.
In early 2025, Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust helped make possible a transformative journey for students with special needs—an inspiring adventure into the unknown that became a powerful catalyst for self-discovery.
Guided by renowned explorer Mark Wood, patron of our charitable trust, these young adventurers gained deeper insight into who they are, inspiring all who hear their story by showing how venturing into the unknown can lead to a deeper understanding of themselves.
Watch the video to see the trip’s positive impact on the students.
RWOT co-funded four £3000 grants to the University of York (consumables for peat core analyses such as glassware, filters, storage vessels, and chemicals), the University of Birmingham (gas flux analyser repairs), and RBG Kew (maintenance at the Thursley Common experiment), supporting long-term ecological research at sites in York, mid-Wales, Staffordshire, and Surrey.
Our charitable trust has provided funding for new signposting to be added to three beloved National Trails among the walking community:
In the Spring of 2025, Jeff Sissons, a trustee of Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust, caught up with the charity Happy to Chat, Happy to Listen, which works to raise awareness of mental health and suicide in Perthshire, Scotland.
One creative initiative the charity has developed is a series of Bench Trails across the local area, offering walkers a chance to pause, enjoy the scenery, and connect with others who may be sharing the bench.
Our charitable trust supported this project by funding plaques for the benches, each displaying mental health and suicide emergency helplines for anyone in need.
Part of Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust's mission is to give equal opportunities for people to get outdoors and absorb its benefits, mental and physical. We acknowledge the importance to give those in deprived areas the ability to experience this too, which is why we chose to support ASPIRE boxing club in Sheffield - a beacon to the local community.
Compassion is a responsibility we all share. When we show care and empathy, we not only lift others up in their time of need but also strengthen the bonds that unite us as people.
Our charitable trust is privileged to provide £1,500 to The Compassionate Friends, helping to support their walks that offer comfort, understanding, empathy, and hope to bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents who have experienced the loss of a child of any age and from any cause.
“A big thank you to the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust for supporting our mission to make outdoor learning accessible to everyone.
Thanks to a recent grant from the Trust, we will soon be hosting a two-night residential for 77 children from a school in Manchester. They'll enjoy outdoor education and adventure activities at our Castle Head field centre in the Lake District, and each will receive one of our Wild ID guides, all free of charge.
The trip is part-funded by our Grants for Schools programme, which is supported by generous donations from our supporters and Members.
We're very grateful to the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust for making this trip possible and hope to share an update about the experience in a couple of months time. ” – Field Studies Council
We didn’t anticipate after giving a grant to support Scotland’s wonderful marine wildlife would lead to us receiving a birthday invitation, but it’s appreciated none-the-less!
To represent our charitable trust at this event which marks a quarter century of education, conservation, and coastal inspiration, we sent Ramble Worldwide Leader Susan Butts who has a personal connection with this great cause.
“The event at the Scottish Seabird Centre marked 25 years since its opening by King Charles (then Prince of Wales). Having lived in North Berwick at the time and worked as the local librarian, I recall supporting the Centre’s early development. It was a pleasure to reconnect with those involved and celebrate its continuing success.” – Susan Butts, Ramble Worldwide Leader
The Visionaries is an organisation which specialise in supporting vulnerable people of all ages by providing space to develop their wellbeing.
Their program, The Village at The Edge of The World, offers teenagers a transformative one-week mountain adventure in the UK wilderness to discover their potential and build confidence in nature.
Our grant helped fund a camp in the Southern Lake District this August.
More amazing projects brought to life with our charitable trust coming soon...
The Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust took big strides in giving amazing life-changing opportunities in 2024, from a donation to Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team allowing them to purchase a drone and save more people in the Lake District, to giving inner-city students from schools in the Midlands and the North-East a chance to realise "I'm not nothing and that I can be whoever I want to be, if I put my mind to it", and more.
The Trust played a significant part in enabling greater access to the outdoors to a wide range of individuals, granting funds to both small and large initiatives. Read a summary of our impact in 2023 here.
