Hassness is available to hire as a whole house, on a catered basis, for 3, 4 or 7 nights at various times throughout the year.  We have welcomed a wide range of groups to the house, from families, groups of friends and local clubs to even accommodating wedding parties on the property grounds.   • What’s the minimum number of people required for a corporate retreat to go ahead?

    We don’t have a set minimum group size for a corporate retreat - our team is happy to accommodate groups of any size, up to a maximum of 19 guests.

  • What level of difficulty are the walks offered in the area?

    If choosing to explore the scenic landscape around Hassness House, we provide a variety of enriching walks with grades that range from 4, 6, 7, and 8 at a moderate to challenging level. Find out more about our holiday walking grades.

  • Are the guided walks mandatory or can we choose self-guided walks?

    Your corporate retreat, your itinerary - you decide if you would like a guided walk with one of our expert leaders who can educate you on the beauty and history of Buttermere and the local fells as you enjoy its splendour on foot. Or neither, and simply establish your own plan whilst basking in the glorious natural setting of Buttermere.

  • What is the nearest village and public transport access?

    Buttermere village is around 1 mile away and has two pubs and a café. Hassness House is accessible by train to Penrith, bus to Keswick, then by bus or taxi (note: public bus doesn’t serve the property from November to Easter). We offer transfers from Penrith Railway Station to Hassness House. The nearest fuel stations are in Keswick or Cockermouth; there are no EV charging docks on site.

  • Are dietary requirements catered for?

    Yes, vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary needs are accommodated. Please inform Ramble Worldwide at booking so arrangements can be made in advance.
