Hassness – The Best of the Lake District – September 4th – 11th
“Hassness, a fabulous place for walking in the Lake District”.
This is how one of the French members of our group (17 French, 1 German and 2 British walkers) from the French Alps, described his impressions of his week’s stay in the beautiful house of Hassness on the shore of Buttermere. Hassness was our “home” for a week providing a truly warm, relaxing and restful atmosphere. Paula and her staff looked after us all so well: keeping our rooms clean and tidy, dishing up gourmet meals every evening (the best ever sticky toffee pudding) and wonderfully welcome home-made cakes for us tired walkers on our return “home”.

Hassness is set in an enchanting and delightfully remote setting, well away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday busy life. We had immediate access to the magnificent fells around – Red Pike, High Stile, Haystacks – which we explored with real pleasure, totally taken aback by the stunning views, variety of colours and beautiful light at the end of the day. We were so lucky to be accompanied and guided by Mike and his lovely wife Tess – they did a commendable job coping with our French group of Alpine hikers.

All in all a fantastic holiday – thank you Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, with a particular mention for Dawn and her patience and helpfulness in organising this trip for us. The transport you laid on was perfect and the bus drivers were so friendly and accommodating. Congratulations, a wonderful boost for the “entente cordiale”!
