Unsurprisingly, this is one of Ramblers Walking Holidays’ most popular USA walking holiday tours and one of the most recommended to clients by friends. But why? It’s difficult to pin-point but it’s probably the challenge and diversity of the walks coupled with the unique opportunity to walk rim- to rim across the Grand Canyon – the most spectacular natural phenomenon on the planet – truly awesome!
Rim-to-rim is not a challenge to be taken lightly but is manageable by all good walkers as long as you save some energy for that last 4000 feet climb out onto the North Rim! It’s a spectacular trail – undoubtedly one of the top ten walks in the world – giving you a real sense of personal achievement.
The challenges and sights change daily. We’re always amazed by the sheer scale of the country – Bryce Canyon with its spectacular shapes and colours; Angels Landing in Zion offers a ridge scramble for those with good balance and steady nerves with the reward of an unsurpassed lunch spot. One of our favourites is Arches NP which provides some spectacular views and desert walks across slick rocks including the unmissable Delicate Arch. The iconic Monument Valley is full of childhood dreams of cowboys and Indians; whilst Las Vegas goes into overdrive with spectacular lights and sparkling fountains – you’ll either love it or loathe it, but it will be unforgettable.
Don’t forget the food. American chefs really know how to cook steak – sorry to all you vegetarians, but the ribeyes taste great. A holiday of real contrasts …. and it’s not just Leaders who repeat the tour but clients do as well!
