We had a wonderful time in Norway. Perhaps the most memorable day started in the village of Flam, pronounced ‘Flom’, with a rail trip up the valley, past a spectacular waterfall, and on to Voss by another train. A cable car took us to the top where a short walk gave us a view over mountains and towards the fjords. From Voss a coach carried us high into the hills where snow still lay in June, and ice floated in the lakes – but the strange thing was that, expecting to freeze, the air felt balmy!
The very comfortable Balmoral floated in the still water of the fjord, not moored as it was too deep, and we were ferried out to continue on our way through the magnificent scenery of southern Norway.
