Shannah and David Day were the lucky winners of our holiday in Tavira in the Algarve, offered as a prize by Outdoor Enthusiast magazine. Tavira is one of our most popular trips, and Shannah and David were definitely impressed.

"We had an amazing week in Tavira, walking with the 21-strong group. It was a good mix, with all ages, abilities and nationalities, so we got to meet some very interesting people. The selection of walks was superb. Mark was an excellent leader and managed the mixed group with great skill, always giving the opportunity for people to stride out or stop for wildlife and photo opportunities. The hotel was excellent and the meals in a variety of local restaurants a treat.

The coast, villages and countryside of the eastern Algarve provide a wonderful mix of coastal and inland walks. The sand bars which protect the coast have also preserved the traditions and natural beauty of the area. Walks take you to beautiful beaches, pretty coastal villages, following ancient trails past smallholdings and villas, orange groves, olive and carob orchards.
Tavira itself is a traditional and charming fishing town. The ancient Ponta Romana bridges the Rio Sequa, separating the two sides of the town.
