Growing up in the Italian Alps has meant that hiking through the mountains has always been the norm for me. Since moving to the UK 35 years ago, I return regularly to my home in the Alps where my heart is. However, I know Italy pretty well having travelled extensively through it, I love it and I am always very happy to introduce people to my country with all its quirks and delights.
From a young age, I was always interested in the wider world which led to studying modern foreign languages at University, specifically French and English. Then in my 20s I started travelling outside Europe and visited a few countries in North Africa, I was fascinated by deserts, so different from where I come from. In the end I spent six months working in a tourist resort near Abidjan in the Ivory Coast, a very special time in a country that unfortunately is now inaccessible.
While living in the UK I studied Spanish with the open University which has allowed me to lead Ramble Worldwide tours in Central and Latin America, with its many different cultures and amazing mountains. I studied Chinese for a while hoping to be better prepared to understand the country when finally getting there. I love Africa too, especially South Africa …. and the Galapagos … and Georgia … and my next destination.....
I love travelling around the world, I am quite adventurous and the more unusual a place is the more I like the idea of visiting it. 2020 would have taken me back to Armenia and then into Iran, but unfortunately Covid has clipped mine and everybody else's wings.
I feel very lucky that since retiring from teaching, I’ve had my ideal job with Ramble Worldwide, exploring the world with like-minded people.
