This was my first experience with Ramblers and my first experience on a hiking holiday and my daughter went with me.
We hiked the Lycian Way and it was a great experience although the most physically demanding thing I have ever done. The ascents and descents were quite steep, the terrain very rugged and temperatures were close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day. Nevertheless we both came home with a great sense of accomplishment. We had a great tour guide, Ibrahim, who was very knowledgeable and very helpful to novice trekkers like us.
There were several highlights to the trip. Most memorable were the people we met. My daughter and I were the only Americans; all the others were from the UK and all very experienced hikers who had been on many Rambler holidays. They were extremely nice and interesting people and we thoroughly enjoyed their company and they were all very supportive of us. We could not have wished for better companions on this trip.
The other highlight was a lunch we had at a farm house in the hills at the end of one of our hikes. This was a family farm and they had spread beautiful carpets on the ground outside their house under a grape arbor and served us lunch while we reclined on the carpets. It was a most pleasant experience. Our hosts spoke little or no English but they were most gracious.
Another highlight was the scenery. We had not been to Turkey before and the scenery was breathtaking.
