Overview
St Paul's Trail is a 500km path from Perge to Yalvaç, near Lake Egirdir. The route starts at sea level at the Mediterranean shore and climbs up to 2200m to Turkey’s mountainous centre. Start your exploration in Perge and Selge, making your way through the Koprulu National Park to Kasimlar, Sagalassos and Egirdir.
Your local guide will bring the trail to life as you explore the historical city of Selge before following the trail through vast forests and unique rock formations. Follow the course of the Köprülü River and the canyon, passing deep pools and rocky slopes. Visit the Prostanna ruins and walk to the top of Sivri Hill for a fantastic view of the Egirdir lake.
Immerse yourself in Turkish traditional culture. Stay in local pensions and small family run hotels, and experience traditional and locally sourced Turkish dishes made with fresh ingredients, sometimes from the accommodation's own gardens. Some of your evening dinners will be a typically Turkish where you'll sit on the ground and eat from low tables!
The small villages dotting the path are remote and accommodation can be challenging to find as options are small, sparse and simplistic, therefore we are extremely lucky to be able to walk this path as a group.
This holiday will leave you wanting to discover more of Turkey and its second long-distance trail.
