Board your ship at the port and set sail in the early evening. Check in for your cruise begins one hour prior to embarkation, and embarkation at the cruise terminal usually begins three hours before departure and closes one hour prior to sailing. At the port you will be greeted by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ staff, including porters who will arrange for your luggage to be delivered to your cabin. There will be a letter from your leader in your cabin informing you of the place and time for you to meet the rest of the group that evening.

Cadiz is well known by Fred Olsen and their ships as in the past the port was chosen as the destination where all four of their ships would meet, 'Four Captains in Cadiz'.
To best tell you what makes this town so special you will be met by a local guide. Its 18th Century city walls, cobbled streets and picturesque squares give you a feeling of being in North Africa. As you delve into the areas history, your local guide takes you to the main sights and a must is to stop and try some chocolatey churros. Once your tour has finished there will be time to walk around the headland or self exploration.

Gibraltar is a three-mile-long headland on the Iberian Peninsula on the south coast of Spain. Its British-like high streets are surrounded by long sandy beaches and picturesque Mediterranean charm, plus has a year-round subtropical climate!
Spend your time here exploring its history and diverse landscapes on foot. The cable car whisks you up to the nature reserve and the Rock of Gibraltar, standing at 426m above sea level, providing impressive panoramic views. You may see Barbary Apes hanging out here!
Your walk takes you through Gibraltar Nature Reserve, past sites of interest including St Michael’s Cave, the WWII Tunnels (spanning over 34 miles in total) and the Moorish Castle. The route takes you down the spine of Gibraltar, back into the main town for independent exploration.

Dock in Cartagena in Spain, an old historical city filled with very important roman sites. A short drive to the west of Cartagena brings you to Tentegorra. From here a broad track rises to the Collado del Roldan, a pass from where there are wonderful views up and down the coast to El Portus. You'll return by coach to Cartagena to explore the city after lunch.

Sail into the Andalusian city of Malaga, known for its wealth of history, vibrant culture, lively atmosphere, tapas bars and beautiful beaches. Today a coach takes you high up into the Montes de Málaga above the city for a pleasant walk amidst the pines, eucalyptus, broom, lavender and cistus with panoramic views down to Málaga and the Mediterranean.
After the walk there may be some time to explore the streets and squares of Málaga. Venture past the Alcazaba, an ancient Moorish fortress and one of Malaga's most recognised monuments.

Sail onto Spain to Ceuta, located on a peninsula off the north of Africa. A local guide will help you to discover Ceuta, and its history. Pass its royal walls, Plaza’s cathedral, the central market and may even have time to explore both Plaza de Africa and Plaza de los Reyes. You may spot the giant Pillars of Hercules statue! You will see its architecture is influenced by Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim culture. Our cruise ship is the Balmoral, which can accommodate a maximum of 1325 passengers with 520 crew. The ship offers an intimate, homely atmosphere and the combination of Balmoral's comfortable cabins, excellent cuisine, friendly attentive crew and the onboard facilities are second to none. These include two swimming pools, a fitness centre including a sauna, steam room and beauty salon, two sun decks, Jacuzzis, several lounges and bars, a card room, small casino, library, internet room and several restaurants. The ship has a medical centre, boutique shops, where you can buy essentials such as sun cream or toiletries, and there is also a self service laundrette and ironing room on board. The main restaurant is The Ballindalloch (named after the Speyside village and castle), while the two other formal restaurants - Avon and Spey - are also in keeping with the Scottish theme and are named after two of Scotland's most beautiful salmon rivers. There's a comfy pub with occasional live music or comedy, cabaret and shows in the Neptune Lounge, or drift away with a cool drink and spectacular seascapes in the Observatory Lounge
After dinner there are a variety of shows, reviews and evenings of cabaret for your entertainment. Or maybe even try your hand at the Casino? Our accommodation is twin and single cabins with shower and toilet. All cabins are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, television, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and a safety deposit box. Balmoral has a non-smoking policy on board and smoking is not permitted in any cabin. Allocated cabins will be an inside cabin (normally on the Main or Atlantic Deck) unless you have paid a supplement to upgrade. Those booking single cabins may not necessarily be allocated a twin cabin for sole use. Your cabin steward will keep your cabin in immaculate condition throughout your stay, replacing any linen or towels as or when required. Separate towels are provided for poolside use. Balmoral operates a satellite telephone system, with telephones in each cabin, and personal mobile phones enabled for international roaming should work on board.
The voltage on board the Balmoral is supplied at 220 volts (requiring a continental style 2-pin plug). If you are in any doubt as to the appropriate voltage to use your electrical appliances on board, please check with the ship’s Reception Desk. Adapters are usually available for hire on board, or may be bought at the ship’s shop.

The described walks assume that the weather will be good and that the ship will keep to the planned schedule. We may have to change the walks if the ship’s schedule changes or there is poor weather.
Sometimes the ship may need to anchor at a port of call. This means a tender needs to be used to reach port. Your Captain will advise when a tender service will be required.
Fred Olsen asks that you take your passport with you when you leave the ship to explore on shore.
Local Transport Costs
In the holiday cost, we have included all local transport expenses related to the advertised activity programme for your convenience. If there are additional visits or excursions to enrich your experience, you can choose to participate and cover the costs locally. Depending on the itinerary, local transport may involve a mix of private hire coaches, taxis, local buses, and ferries.
Optional Excursions
At your destination, you may have the option to book various local excursions and activities through a local operator. It's important to note that we are not involved in these activities or excursions, and we do not operate, supervise, or control them in any way. Your contract will be directly with the local activity supplier, and we bear no responsibility for their actions or omissions.
Fred Olsen Paying On Board
The currency on board ship is sterling. A credit account system is operated onboard allowing bar drinks, wine in restaurants, laundry charges, purchases from the shop and any other incidental expenses to be automatically charged to your account. You will be required to register a debit or credit card at check-in against which to charge your onboard account. At the time of writing there is no charge for payment by credit or debit card. Onboard accounts can be settled in cash, however, a debit or credit card must still be registered at check-in to secure the on-board account balance.
The following credit cards are accepted: Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa. Fred. Olsen also accepts Visa debit cards but is unable to accept American Express, Solo, and Electron, travel agent debit cards or traveller’s cheque cards.
The ship operates a Bureau de Change onboard, where currency can be purchased or sold subject to local currency restrictions. All major currencies are stocked based on the cruise destinations with no commission charge and competitive rates.
Currency in Morocco
The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham. Please note that it is not possible to change Scottish or Irish banknotes in Morocco. If changing sterling banknotes at banks or currency exchange points in Morocco these should be in pristine condition; banknotes which are torn, crumpled or have writing on them will not be accepted.
Currency in Spain
The currency in Spain is the euro. You may wish to take some euro cash with you until you reach an ATM. Credit cards may not be accepted in smaller towns and rural areas.
Tipping
As you are probably already aware, tipping or “backsheesh” is a way of life in north Africa. In order to take the hassle out of tipping, we strongly recommend that you allow your leader to take care of making sure tips are given to hotel and restaurant staff & to local guides and drivers. This will be done using some funds provided by Ramble Worldwide plus a contribution from you, which your leader will collect during the holiday. We suggest an amount of £2-£3 per person per day, although this is discretional.
Tipping
Your cruise holiday price includes all ship, driver and where applicable, local guide tips. You can, should you wish, tip more at your discretion for any service provider who has gone above and beyond to make your holiday special.

You have the choice to depart with your luggage on the morning of disembarkation or leave your luggage outside your cabin door on the final night of your cruise holiday. Your luggage will be collected and transferred to the cruise terminal for you on disembarkation, you can collect it as you depart the ship, making for a stress-free disembarkation. If you decide to do this, then we recommend bringing an overnight bag for toiletries, pyjamas, and a spare change of clothes.
Luggage Allowance & Travel Documents
Your luggage allowance is 200lbs or 90kg. For safety reasons, each piece of luggage should weigh less than 44lbs or 20kg.

Passport Information for Morocco and Algeria
Morocco
British passport holders do not need a visa to enter Morocco. Passports should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay in Morocco. Your passport does not need any additional period of validity beyond this. When entering Morocco you should ensure that your passport is stamped to avoid any difficulties on departure. It is necessary to complete an immigration form on both arrival and departure in Morocco for presentation to the Immigration Control officer.
You may be given the form on your outbound flight or can find the forms in the Arrivals Hall at Marrakech airport. You may wish to take an additional blank form from immigration with you to complete for presentation at customs on your departure flight. You will also find the forms at the entrance to passport control on your return journey.
European Passport Advice
If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, you must meet the Schengen area rules.
Your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
For some Schengen countries your passport may need to be less than 10 years old during your whole visit, and the 3 months at the end of your visit may need to be within 10 years of your passport’s issue date.
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
Non British Passport holders should consult the host country’s embassy for applicable passport and visa entry requirements.

Please note as Morocco is a Muslim country the hotels generally do not serve alcohol. Some allow alcohol purchased outside the hotel to be consumed in private rooms but generally not in public areas. Alcohol will likely be available for purchase close by the hotel. The local guide will be able to suggest places where alcohol may be purchased.
Footwear
Lightweight waterproof walking boots with a good, moulded sole (such as Vibram or similar) and a deep tread and which provide ankle support are strongly recommended and may be essential for some walks.

Daywear
Daytime wear is casual with comfortable shoes for walking around deck. A lightweight jacket or coat is recommended for the early evening when the sun sets. You may also like to take a towel and swimwear as the Fred Olsen ships have small swimming pools and Jacuzzis. Towels are provided at the poolside should you forget your own. During the day casual wear is allowed in the restaurant but not swimwear.
Evening attire
During your cruise, there will be formal and smart casual evenings. On formal evenings, gentlemen are encouraged to wear ‘black tie’, although a dark suit and tie will suffice, with ladies elegantly dressed in cocktail or evening dress. On smart casual evenings, men can wear open-necked shirts, chinos and dark coloured jeans, and women dress or trousers and a top.

No compulsory immunisations are required for visits to Morocco.
You should be up to date with the usual immunisations recommended in the UK.

No compulsory immunisations are required for visits to Spain. You should be up to date with the usual immunisations recommended in the UK. Tetanus immunisation is recommended.
Diarrhoea & Boiled Water
Don’t forget to exercise caution with what you eat to avoid upset stomachs and stay away from unpeeled fruit and vegetables, salad and do not have ice in your drinks. Hot, fresh cooked food, where possible, is best.
Hand washing facilities may be poor or unavailable when travelling, we therefore strongly advise you to carry antibacterial sanitizing gel and / or hand wipes at all times and use to them regularly.
Drinking or cleaning teeth in un-boiled water is not recommended. Bottled pure water is inexpensive and widely available in shops, at hotels, and on the coach. Make sure you only buy sealed bottles.

You might wish to take a small bottle of antibacterial hand gel with you for times when you're unable to wash your hands.
It’s a condition of booking that you obtain adequate travel insurance, from a reputable provider, to undertake the holiday, including UK trips chiefly due to the cancellation element of cover.
The policy must cover the period from the date of booking to the last day of your trip and should include, as a minimum, cover for: medical expenses (including the consequences of a Covid positive test result), mountain rescue including helicopter rescue, death, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment and shall not have exclusion clauses limiting cover for the activities you will partake in on your trip, including altitudes reached in the holiday arrangement. It is your responsibility to check that your policy is adequate for the nature and destination of the holiday booked.
Once you have obtained your travel insurance, please provide us with the name of your travel insurer, the policy number and the insurer’s 24 hour emergency assistance number.
In the event that you fail to obtain suitable Travel Insurance we shall not be liable for any costs incurred or claims made against us due to your failure to comply with this term.
If travelling outside the UK you must carry proof of insurance with you and produce it if reasonably requested to do so by RWH Travel staff, tour leaders or suppliers. No refunds will be made should you be excluded from the walking programme through being uninsured or you being unable to demonstrate that you are insured.

If you are travelling to an EU country or Switzerland please also ensure that you have either an existing valid EU EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card) or a valid UK GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card). You can apply for a UK GHIC free of charge on the NHS website at https://services.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/cra/start.
EHIC & GHIC Cards
Starting January 1st, 2021, you, as a UK traveller, can continue using your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) throughout its valid five-year period, granting you access to medical assistance during your holiday until its expiry date. Be aware, though, that this coverage will no longer extend to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland. In case you don't have a valid EHIC, you can apply for a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), which will replace the EHIC as it gets phased out.
It's essential to emphasize that the EHIC/GHIC, while valuable, should not be regarded as a substitute for comprehensive medical or travel insurance. For your peace of mind and comprehensive coverage, considering additional insurance is highly recommended.
